English Translation
Yahya ibn Hakim narrated to us, he said: Safwan ibn Isa narrated to us, he said: Usamah ibn Zayd informed us from al-Zuhri who said: Abd al-Rahman ibn Azhar (may Allah be well pleased with him) informed us, who said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) on the day of Hunayn moving among the people, asking about the camp of Khalid ibn al-Walid. A drunken man was brought to him, and the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) ordered those who were present to strike him with whatever was in their hands, and the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) threw dust at him. Then a drunken man was brought to Abu Bakr afterward, and he estimated the beating they had given that day — or we estimated — and struck him forty times. Then Umar struck eighty times. This is how I found it in my book: he estimated their beating of him.
