أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ قَزَعَةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَيَحْيَى بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حَاطِبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَزْهَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُتِيَ بِشَارِبٍ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ أَنْ يُضْرَبَ فَضَرَبُوهُ بِمَا كَانَ فِي أَيْدِيهِمْ فَلَمَّا كَانَ فِي عَهْدِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ أُتِيَ بِشَارِبٍ فَسَأَلَ عَنْ ضَرْبِهِ فَتَوَخَّيْنَا الضَّرْبَ الَّذِي ضَرَبْنَاهُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِلشَّارِبِ فَتَوَخَّيْنَاهُ أَرْبَعِينَ فَضَرَبَهُ أَرْبَعِينَ ثُمَّ ضَرَبَ عُمَرُ ثَمَانِينَ
English Translation
Al-Hasan ibn Qaza'ah narrated to us, he said: Abd al-A'la narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Amr narrated to us from Abu Salamah ibn Abd al-Rahman and Yahya ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Hatib from Abd al-Rahman ibn Azhar (may Allah be well pleased with him) that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was brought a wine-drinker, and he ordered that he be beaten. They struck him with whatever was in their hands. When it was during the time of Abu Bakr, a wine-drinker was brought, and he asked about the beating. We estimated the beating that we had given the wine-drinker during the time of the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and we estimated it at forty, so he struck him forty times. Then Umar struck eighty times.
