It is narrated on the authority of Hadrat 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud that a man submitted: 'O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), which offence is the most grievous in the eye of Allah?' He (the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) replied: 'That you associate a partner with Allah (despite the fact) that He created you.' He (the man) said: 'What next?' He (the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) replied: 'That you kill your child out of fear that he would join you in food.' He (the inquirer) said (again): 'What next?' He (the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) replied: 'That you commit adultery with the wife of your neighbour.' And the Almighty and Exalted Lord testified it (with this verse): 'All those who call not unto another god along with Allah, and slay not any soul which Allah has forbidden, except in the cause of justice, nor commit fornication, and he who does this shall meet a requital of sin' (xxv).
الترجمة الأردية
(منصور کے بجائے ) اعمش نے ابو وائل سے سابقہ سند کے ساتھ حضرت عبد اللہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت کی ، انہوں نے کہا : ایک آدمی نے پوچھا : اے اللہ کے رسول !اللہ کے ہاں سب سے بڑا گناہ کون سا ہے ؟ آپ نے فرمایا : ’’ یہ کہ م اللہ کے ساتھ کوئی شریک ( بنا کر ) پکارو ، حالانکہ اسی ( اللہ ) نے تمہیں پیدا کیا ہے ۔ ‘ ‘ اس نے پوچھا : پھر کون سا؟فرمایا : ’’ یہ کہ تم اپنے بچے کو اس ڈر سے قتل کر دو کہ وہ تمہارے ساتھ کھائے گا ۔ ‘ ‘ اس نے پوچھا : پھر کون سا ؟ آپ نے فرمایا : ’’ یہ کہ تم اپنی پڑوسی کی بیوی سے زنا کرو ۔ ‘ ‘ اللہ تعالیٰ نے اس ( بات ) کی تصدیق میں یہ آیت نازل فرمائی : ’’ جو لوگ اللہ کےساتھ کسی اور کو معبود ( بنا کر ) نہیں پکارتے اور کسی جان کو جسے ( قتل کرنا ) اللہ نے حرام ٹھہرایا ہے ، حق کے بغیر قتل نیہں کرتے اور جو زنا نہیں کرتے ( وہی رحمٰن کے مومن بندےہیں ۔ ) اور جو ان ( کاموں ) کا ارتکاب کرے گا ، وہ سخت گنا ہ ( کی سزا ) سے دو چار ہو گا ۔ ‘ ‘
