Abd al-A'la told us, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from al-Sa'ib ibn Yazid, from al-Muttalib ibn Abi Wada'ah, from Hafsah, wife of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that she said: I never saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, pray his supererogatory prayers seated at all, until about a year or two before his death, when he began to pray his supererogatory prayers seated, reciting the surah slowly until it took longer than the longest surah would take.
