Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik told us, Ubaydullah ibn Iyad told us, who said: I heard Iyad narrate from Qabisah ibn Burmah, from al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah, who said: I went out with the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, on one of his journeys. We traveled until, at the approach of dawn, he went off until he was hidden from me and relieved himself. Then he came and called for water for purification. He was wearing a Syrian cloak with tight sleeves, so he put his hand in from under the cloak, then washed his face and hands, wiped his head, and wiped over his leather socks. Muhammad ibn Ubayd told us, Muhammad ibn Amr told us, from Abu Salamah, from al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah, who said: I was with the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, on one of his journeys. When he went to relieve himself he would go far off. He went to relieve himself and said, "O Mughirah, follow me with water," and he mentioned the hadith.
