Abd al-Razzaq told us: Ma'mar informed us, from Ibn Khuthaym, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Sabit, from Jabir ibn Abdullah, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to Ka'b ibn Ujrah: "May Allah protect you from the rule of fools." He said: "And what is the rule of fools?" He said: "Leaders who will come after me, who will not follow my guidance nor practice my Sunnah. Whoever confirms them in their lies and helps them in their oppression - those are not of me, nor am I of them, and they will not come to me at my Pool (Hawd). And whoever does not confirm them in their lies nor help them in their oppression - those are of me and I am of them, and they will come to me at my Pool. O Ka'b ibn Ujrah, fasting is a shield, charity extinguishes sin, and prayer is a means of nearness - or he said, a proof. O Ka'b ibn Ujrah, flesh that has grown from unlawful earnings will not enter Paradise; the Fire is more fitting for it. O Ka'b ibn Ujrah, people go forth in the morning as one of two: one who sells himself and thereby frees it, and one who sells himself and thereby destroys it."
