Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمٌ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ، عَنْ رِبْعِيٍّ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ، قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذَا أَوَى إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ قَالَ " اللَّهُمَّ بِاسْمِكَ أَحْيَا وَأَمُوتُ ". وَإِذَا أَصْبَحَ قَالَ " الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ ".
English Translation
Muslim narrated to us, he said Shu'bah narrated to us, from Abd al-Malik, from Rib'i, from Hadrat Hudhayfah (bin al-Yaman) (may Allah be well pleased with him) who said: When the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) retired to his bed, he would say: "O Allah! In Your name I live and I die." And when he awoke in the morning, he would say: "All praise is for Allah Who has given us life after causing our death (i.e., awakened us after sleep), and unto Him is the return."
Urdu Translation
ہم سے مسلم نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے شعبہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے عبدالملک نے، ان سے ربعی نے اور ان سے حضرت حذیفہ (بن یمان) رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے بیان کیا: نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم جب اپنے بستر پر آتے تو فرماتے: "اے اللہ! تیرے نام سے زندہ ہوتا ہوں اور مرتا ہوں۔" اور جب صبح ہوتی تو فرماتے: "سب تعریفیں اللہ کے لیے ہیں جس نے ہمیں مار کر زندہ کیا (یعنی نیند کے بعد جگایا) اور اسی کی طرف لوٹ کر جانا ہے۔"
