Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ حَذْوَ مَنْكِبَيْهِ إِذَا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلاَةَ، وَإِذَا كَبَّرَ لِلرُّكُوعِ، وَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ رَفَعَهُمَا كَذَلِكَ أَيْضًا وَقَالَ " سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ، رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ ". وَكَانَ لاَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ فِي السُّجُودِ.
English Translation
Hadrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be well pleased with them both) narrates that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) would raise both hands up to his shoulders when beginning the prayer, when saying Takbir for bowing, and when raising his blessed head from bowing, and would say 'Sami'Allahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa lakal-hamd.' However, he would not raise his hands for the prostration.
Urdu Translation
حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم جب نماز شروع فرماتے تو اپنے دونوں ہاتھ کندھوں تک اٹھاتے، اور جب رکوع کے لیے تکبیر کہتے اور جب رکوع سے سر مبارک اٹھاتے تو بھی دونوں ہاتھ اسی طرح اٹھاتے اور «سمع الله لمن حمده ربنا ولك الحمد» فرماتے۔ البتہ سجدے میں ہاتھ نہیں اٹھاتے تھے۔
