حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ، مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، قَالَ أُتِيَ عَلِيٌّ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ بِزَنَادِقَةٍ فَأَحْرَقَهُمْ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ فَقَالَ لَوْ كُنْتُ أَنَا لَمْ أُحْرِقْهُمْ لِنَهْىِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَلَقَتَلْتُهُمْ لِقَوْلِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " مَنْ بَدَّلَ دِينَهُ فَاقْتُلُوهُ ".
English Translation
Hadrat Ikrima (may the mercy of Allah be upon him) narrates that some apostates were brought to Hadrat Ali al-Murtada (may Allah ennoble his countenance), and he had them burnt. When this news reached Hadrat Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both), he said: 'Had I been in his place, I would not have burnt them, because the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) forbade it, saying: Do not punish with the punishment of Allah. However, I would have had them executed, as the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) declared: Whoever changes his religion, execute him.'
Urdu Translation
حضرت عکرمہ رحمۃ اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ سے روایت ہے کہ حضرت علی المرتضیٰ کرّم اللہ تعالیٰ وجہہ الکریم کے پاس کچھ زندیق لائے گئے تو آپ نے انہیں جلوا دیا۔ یہ خبر حضرت عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما کو پہنچی تو انہوں نے فرمایا: اگر میں ہوتا تو انہیں نہ جلواتا کیونکہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے منع فرمایا ہے کہ اللہ کے عذاب سے عذاب نہ دو۔ البتہ میں انہیں قتل کروا دیتا کیونکہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کا ارشاد گرامی ہے: جو شخص اپنا دین بدل ڈالے اسے قتل کر دو۔
