أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ حِسَابٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا أُتِيَ بِقَوْمٍ قَدِ ارْتَدُّوا عَنِ الْإِسْلَامِ أَوْ قَالَ زَنَادِقَةٍ مَعَهُمْ كُتُبٌ فَأَمَرَ بِنَارٍ فَأُجِّجَتْ فَأَلْقَاهُمْ فِيهَا بِكُتُبِهِمْ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ فَقَالَ أَمَّا أَنَا لَوْ كُنْتُ لَمْ أُحَرِّقْهُمْ لِنَهْيِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَلَقَتَلْتُهُمْ لِقَوْلِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَا تُعَذِّبُوا بِعَذَابِ اللَّهِ» وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَنْ بَدَّلَ دِينَهُ فَاقْتُلُوهُ»
English Translation
Al-Hasan ibn Sufyan narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Ubayd ibn Hisab narrated to us, Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us from Ayyub, from Ikrimah that Hadrat Ali (may Allah be well pleased with him) was brought people who had apostatized from Islam, or he said heretics (zanadiqa), and they had books with them. He ordered a fire to be kindled and threw them into it along with their books. This reached Hadrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both) who said: "As for me, if I had been there, I would not have burned them due to the prohibition of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), but I would have killed them according to the statement of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): 'Do not punish with the punishment of Allah.' And the Beloved Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stated: 'Whoever changes his religion, kill him.'"
Urdu Translation
حسن بن سفیان نے ہمیں بیان کیا، محمد بن عبید بن حساب نے ہمیں بیان کیا، حماد بن زید نے ایوب سے، عکرمہ سے روایت کیا کہ حضرت علی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے پاس ایسے لوگ لائے گئے جنہوں نے اسلام سے ارتداد اختیار کر لیا تھا یا فرمایا زندیق تھے اور ان کے پاس کتابیں تھیں۔ آپ نے آگ کا حکم دیا تو وہ بھڑکائی گئی اور آپ نے انہیں ان کی کتابوں سمیت اس میں ڈال دیا۔ یہ بات حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما تک پہنچی تو فرمایا: رہا میں، اگر میں ہوتا تو انہیں نہ جلاتا رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی ممانعت کی وجہ سے، لیکن انہیں قتل ضرور کرتا رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے قول کی بنا پر: «اللہ کے عذاب سے عذاب مت دو۔» اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: «جو شخص اپنا دین بدل لے، اسے قتل کر دو۔»
