حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ، عَنْ يَحْيَى، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَلَمَةَ، يَقُولُ أَخْبَرَنَا جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم جَاءَهُ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، وَاللَّهِ مَا كِدْتُ أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ حَتَّى كَادَتِ الشَّمْسُ تَغْرُبُ، وَذَلِكَ بَعْدَ مَا أَفْطَرَ الصَّائِمُ. فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم " وَاللَّهِ مَا صَلَّيْتُهَا " فَنَزَلَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِلَى بُطْحَانَ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ فَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ صَلَّى ـ يَعْنِي الْعَصْرَ ـ بَعْدَ مَا غَرَبَتِ الشَّمْسُ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى بَعْدَهَا الْمَغْرِبَ.
English Translation
Hadrat Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be well pleased with them both) narrates that on the day of the Battle of the Trench (al-Khandaq), Hadrat Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be well pleased with him) came to the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and submitted: 'O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! By Allah, the sun was about to set and I have not yet offered the Asr prayer.' It was the time when those fasting had already broken their fast. The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: 'By Allah, I too have not yet offered it.' He then went to Buthan, and I was with him. He performed ablution and offered the Asr prayer after the sun had set, then offered the Maghrib prayer after it.
Urdu Translation
حضرت جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ غزوۂ خندق کے دن حضرت عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی بارگاہ میں حاضر ہوئے اور عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! اللہ کی قسم! سورج ڈوبنے ہی والا تھا کہ میں نے ابھی عصر کی نماز نہیں پڑھی۔ یہ وہ وقت تھا جب روزہ دار افطار کر چکے تھے۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اللہ کی قسم! میں نے بھی ابھی تک (عصر) نہیں پڑھی۔ پھر آپ بُطحان کی طرف تشریف لے گئے اور میں بھی آپ کے ساتھ تھا۔ آپ نے وضو فرمایا اور سورج غروب ہونے کے بعد عصر کی نماز پڑھی، پھر اس کے بعد مغرب کی نماز ادا فرمائی۔
