حَدَّثَنَا الْمَكِّيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ يَحْيَى، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ جَاءَ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ بَعْدَ مَا غَرَبَتِ الشَّمْسُ جَعَلَ يَسُبُّ كُفَّارَ قُرَيْشٍ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا كِدْتُ أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ حَتَّى كَادَتِ الشَّمْسُ أَنْ تَغْرُبَ. قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم " وَاللَّهِ مَا صَلَّيْتُهَا " فَنَزَلْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم بُطْحَانَ، فَتَوَضَّأَ لِلصَّلاَةِ وَتَوَضَّأْنَا لَهَا، فَصَلَّى الْعَصْرَ بَعْدَ مَا غَرَبَتِ الشَّمْسُ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى بَعْدَهَا الْمَغْرِبَ.
English Translation
Hadrat Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be well pleased with them both) narrates that on the day of the Trench, Hadrat Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be well pleased with him) came cursing the disbelievers of the Quraysh and submitted: O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! I could not pray Asr until the sun was about to set. The Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) declared, 'By Allah! I too have not prayed it yet.' Then the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) went to the valley of But'han, performed ablution, and prayed Asr after sunset, then prayed Maghrib after it.
Urdu Translation
حضرت جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ خندق کے دن حضرت عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ تشریف لائے اور قریش کے کفار کو برا بھلا فرمانے لگے اور عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! میں عصر نہیں پڑھ سکا یہاں تک کہ سورج ڈوبنے لگا۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اللہ کی قسم! میں نے بھی ابھی تک نہیں پڑھی۔ پھر آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم بطحان نالے میں تشریف لائے، وضو فرمایا، پھر سورج ڈوبنے کے بعد عصر پڑھی، پھر اس کے بعد مغرب پڑھی۔
