Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " مَنْ قَامَ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ، وَمَنْ صَامَ رَمَضَانَ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ ".
English Translation
It is narrated by Hadrat Talha bin Ubaidullah (may Allah be well pleased with him) that a Bedouin came to the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) with disheveled hair and submitted, "O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! Tell me what fasting Allah the Exalted has made obligatory upon me." He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated, "The month of Ramadan." The man submitted, "Is there anything else obligatory upon me?" He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated, "No, unless you wish to observe voluntary fasts."
Urdu Translation
ہم سے قتیبہ بن سعید نے بیان کیا، ان سے اسماعیل بن جعفر نے بیان کیا، ان سے ابوسہیل نے اور ان سے ان کے والد نے حضرت طلحہ بن عبیداللہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت کیا کہ ایک دیہاتی نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا اور عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! مجھے بتائیں کہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے مجھ پر کون سے روزے فرض کیے ہیں؟ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: رمضان کا مہینہ۔ اس نے عرض کیا: کیا اس کے علاوہ بھی مجھ پر کچھ ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: نہیں، مگر یہ کہ تو اپنی خوشی سے نفل روزہ رکھ لے۔
