حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ يَزِيدَ، يَقُولُ صَلَّى بِنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ بِمِنًى أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ، فَقِيلَ ذَلِكَ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ فَاسْتَرْجَعَ ثُمَّ قَالَ صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ، وَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ، وَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ، فَلَيْتَ حَظِّي مِنْ أَرْبَعِ رَكَعَاتٍ رَكْعَتَانِ مُتَقَبَّلَتَانِ.
English Translation
It is narrated from Hadrat Abdur-Rahman bin Yazid (may Allah have mercy upon him) who said: Hadrat Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be well pleased with him) led us in a four rak'a prayer at Mina. When Hadrat Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be well pleased with him) was informed of this, he recited 'Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un' (Truly, to Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return), and then said: I offered two rak'at with the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) at Mina, I offered two rak'at with Hadrat Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be well pleased with him), and I offered two rak'at with Hadrat Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be well pleased with him). Would that my share of these four rak'at were two accepted rak'at!
Urdu Translation
حضرت عبدالرحمٰن بن یزید رحمۃ اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ فرماتے ہیں کہ حضرت عثمان بن عفان رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے ہمیں منیٰ میں چار رکعت نماز پڑھائی۔ جب اس کا ذکر حضرت عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے کیا گیا تو انہوں نے «انا للہ وانا الیہ راجعون» پڑھا، پھر فرمایا: میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے ساتھ منیٰ میں دو رکعت پڑھی ہے، حضرت ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے ساتھ بھی دو ہی رکعت پڑھی ہے، حضرت عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے ساتھ بھی دو ہی رکعت پڑھی ہے۔ کاش میرے حصے میں ان چار رکعتوں کے بجائے دو مقبول رکعتیں ہوتیں!
