حَدَّثَنا مُحَمَّد بن معمر حَدَّثَنا عمر بن يونس حَدَّثَنا عكرمة يعني ابن عَمَّار عن أبي كثير قال حدثني أبو هريرة رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ومع أبي بكر وعمر في أناس مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فخرج النبي صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ من ب��ن ظهرانينا فخشينا أن يقتطع دوننا فكنت في أول من فزع فأتيت حائط رجل من الأنصار فطلبت ثلمة فلم أجدها فإذا ربيع يخرج من بين ظاهره فيبحث كما يبحث الثعلب فدخلت فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أبو هريرة فقلت نعم يا نبي الله عز وجل قال لي مالك قلت فقدناك ففزعنا وخشينا أن تقتطع دوننا وهدأ الناس وأبو بَكْر وعمر فيهم فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اذهب بنعلي هذه فمن لقيت خلف هذا الحائط يشهد ألا إله إلا الله مستيقنا بها قلبه فبشره بالجنة قال فلقيت عمر فقلت له قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اخرج بنعلي هذه فمن لقيت وراء الحائط يشهد ألا إله إلا الله يستيقن بها قلبه فبشره بالجنة فضربني عمر ضربة في صدري فخررت على أستي فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فأخبرته بالذي صنع عمر وأنا مجهش بالبكاء فقال ما الذي حملك على ما قال أبو هريرة قال صدق أبو هريرة قال إني أخاف على الناس أن يتكلوا قال فذرهم يعملونوَهَذَا الحديثُ بِهَذَا اللَّفْظِ لاَ نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ إلاَّ أبو كثير عن أبي هريرة رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ النبي صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ من بين ظهرانينا فخشينا أن يقتطع دوننا فكنت في أول من فزع فأتيت حائط رجل من الأنصار فطلبت ثلمة فلم أجدها فإذا ربيع يخرج من بين ظاهره فيبحث كما يبحث الثعلب فدخلت فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أبو هريرة فقلت نعم يا نبي الله عز وجل قال لي مالك قلت فقدناك ففزعنا وخشينا أن تقتطع دوننا وهدأ الناس وأبو بَكْر وعمر فيهم فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اذهب بنعلي هذه فمن لقيت خلف هذا الحائط يشهد ألا إله إلا الله مستيقنا بها قلبه فبشره بالجنة قال فلقيت عمر فقلت له قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اخرج بنعلي هذه فمن لقيت وراء الحائط يشهد ألا إله إلا الله يستيقن بها قلبه فبشره بالجنة فضربني عمر ضربة في صدري فخررت على أستي فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فأخبرته بالذي صنع عمر وأنا مجهش بالبكاء فقال ما الذي حملك على ما قال أبو هريرة قال صدق أبو هريرة قال إني أخاف على الناس أن يتكلوا قال فذرهم يعملونوَهَذَا الحديثُ بِهَذَا اللَّفْظِ لاَ نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ إلاَّ أبو كثير عن أبي هريرة رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ
English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ma'mar narrated to us, Umar ibn Yunus narrated to us, Ikrimah — meaning Ibn Ammar — narrated to us from Abu Kathir who said: Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated to me, saying: We were with the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), along with Abu Bakr and Umar, among a group of the Companions of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) departed from our midst, and we feared that he might be cut off from us. I was among the first to be alarmed, so I went to the walled garden of a man from the Ansar and looked for a gap in the wall but could not find one. Then I saw a stream coming out from beneath its outer wall, so I squeezed through like a fox and entered. The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: "Abu Hurairah?" I said: Yes, O Prophet of Allah. He said: "What is the matter with you?" I said: We missed you and became alarmed, fearing you might be cut off from us. Then people calmed down, and Abu Bakr and Umar were among them. The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: "Go with these sandals of mine, and whoever you meet behind this wall who testifies that there is no deity but Allah with certainty in his heart, give him the glad tidings of Paradise." He said: I met Umar and told him what the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said to me: Go out with these sandals of mine, and whoever you meet beyond the wall who testifies that there is no deity but Allah with certainty in his heart, give him the glad tidings of Paradise. Umar struck me on the chest and I fell on my backside. I returned to the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and informed him of what Umar had done, while I was sobbing with tears. He said to Umar: "What made you do that?" Abu Hurairah said: He spoke the truth. Umar said: I fear that the people will become complacent and rely [on this alone]. He [the Prophet] said: "Then let them do good deeds." This hadith with this wording is not known to have been narrated except by Abu Kathir from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him).
