حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُبَارَكُ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ أُتِيَ بِتَمْرٍ فَأَعْجَبَهُ جَوْدَتُهُ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا أَخَذْنَا صَاعًا بِصَاعَيْنِ لِنَطْعَمَهُ فَكَرِهَ ذَلِكَ وَنَهَى عَنْهُ.
English Translation
Khalaf ibn al-Walid told us: al-Mubarak told us, from al-Hasan, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who narrated to him from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that he was brought some dates, and their quality impressed him. They said, "O Messenger of Allah, we took one sa' for two sa's of our [ordinary] dates in order to feed it to him." He disliked that and forbade it.
