حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ الْعَنْبَرِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ التَّلِبِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ رَجُلاً، أَعْتَقَ نَصِيبًا لَهُ مِنْ مَمْلُوكٍ فَلَمْ يُضَمِّنْهُ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم . قَالَ أَحْمَدُ إِنَّمَا هُوَ بِالتَّاءِ - يَعْنِي التَّلِبَّ - وَكَانَ شُعْبَةُ أَلْثَغَ لَمْ يُبَيِّنِ التَّاءَ مِنَ الثَّاءِ .
English Translation
Hadrat al-Talib ibn Tha'labah al-Tamimi al-Anbari (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrates from his father that a man emancipated his share in a jointly-owned slave. The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) did not impose upon him the responsibility to pay for the remainder. Ahmad (upon him be mercy) said: The name of the Companion is al-Talib, with a ta' — not al-Thalib with a tha'. Shu'bah (upon him be mercy) had a lisp and could not clearly pronounce ta', so he would say tha' instead of ta'.
Urdu Translation
حضرت تلب بن ثعلبہ تمیمی عنبری رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ اپنے والد سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ ایک شخص نے مشترک غلام میں سے اپنا حصہ آزاد کر دیا تو نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے اسے باقی قیمت کا ذمہ دار نہیں ٹھہرایا۔ احمد رحمۃ اللہ علیہ کہتے ہیں: صحابی کا نام تَلِب ہے تائے فوقانیہ سے نہ کہ ثَلِب ثائے مثلثہ سے، اور شعبہ رحمۃ اللہ علیہ ہکلے تھے یعنی ان کی زبان سے تاء واضح ادا نہیں ہوتی تھی اس لیے وہ تاء کو ثاء کہتے تھے۔
