Umm al-Mu'minin Hadrat Aisha (may Allah be well pleased with her) narrated that when the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) came to Madinah, his daughter Zaynab left Makkah with Kinanah or the son of Kinanah. They went out in pursuit of her, and Habbar ibn al-Aswad caught up with her. He kept thrusting his spear at her camel until he knocked her down, and she miscarried and bled. She was taken, and Banu Hashim and Banu Umayyah disputed over her. Banu Umayyah said: 'We have more right to her,' as she was married to their cousin Abu al-As. She ended up with Hind bint Utbah ibn Rabi'ah, who would say to her: 'This is because of your father.' The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said to Hadrat Zayd ibn Harithah (may Allah be well pleased with him): 'Will you not go and bring me Zaynab?' He submitted: 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' He stated: 'Then take my ring and give it to her.' Zayd set off and left his camel, and kept using subtlety until he met a shepherd and asked: 'Whose flock do you tend?' He said: 'Abu al-As's.' He asked: 'And whose sheep are these?' He said: 'Zaynab bint Muhammad's.' He walked with him for a while, then said: 'Would you like me to give you something to give to her, and you tell no one?' He said: 'Yes.' So he gave him the ring. The shepherd went in with his flock and gave it to her. She recognized it and asked: 'Who gave you this?' He said: 'A man.' She asked: 'Where did you leave him?' He said: 'At such-and-such a place.' She remained silent until nightfall, then went out to him. When she came to him, he said: 'Mount.' She said: 'No, rather you mount in front of me.' So he mounted and she rode behind him until she arrived. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) used to say: 'She is the most meritorious of my daughters — she was afflicted on my account.' This reached Hadrat Ali ibn al-Husayn (may Allah be well pleased with him), who went to Urwah and said: 'What is this hadith that has reached me from you, in which you diminish the right of Hadrat Fatimah (may Allah be well pleased with her)?' Urwah said: 'By Allah, I would not wish to have what is between the east and the west if it meant diminishing any right that belongs to Fatimah. As for henceforth, you have my word that I shall never narrate it again.'"

اُمّ المؤمنین حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا سے روایت ہے کہ جب حضور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم مدینہ تشریف لائے تو آپ کی صاحبزادی حضرت زینب مکہ سے کنانہ یا ابن کنانہ کے ساتھ نکلیں۔ لوگ ان کے تعاقب میں نکلے اور ہبّار بن الاسود نے انہیں پا لیا۔ وہ مسلسل ان کے اونٹ کو نیزے سے مارتا رہا یہاں تک کہ انہیں گرا دیا، اور ان کا حمل ساقط ہو گیا اور خون بہا۔ انہیں اٹھایا گیا اور بنو ہاشم اور بنو امیہ میں ان کے بارے میں جھگڑا ہوا۔ بنو امیہ نے کہا: ہمارا ان پر زیادہ حق ہے، کیونکہ وہ ان کے چچازاد ابو العاص کے نکاح میں تھیں۔ وہ ہند بنت عتبہ بن ربیعہ کے پاس رہیں اور ہند ان سے کہتی: یہ سب تمہارے باپ کی وجہ سے ہے۔ حضور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے حضرت زید بن حارثہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے فرمایا: کیا تم نہیں جاؤ گے اور زینب کو میرے پاس لاؤ گے؟ انہوں نے عرض کیا: جی ہاں یا رسول اللہ۔ آپ نے فرمایا: میری انگوٹھی لے لو اور اسے دے دو۔ زید روانہ ہوئے اور اونٹ چھوڑ کر نرمی سے چلتے رہے یہاں تک کہ ایک چرواہے سے ملے اور پوچھا: تم کس کی بکریاں چراتے ہو؟ اس نے کہا: ابوالعاص کی۔ پوچھا: یہ بکریاں کس کی ہیں؟ کہا: زینب بنت محمد کی۔ کچھ دیر ساتھ چلے، پھر کہا: کیا تم ایک چیز لے کر انہیں دے دو گے اور کسی کو نہیں بتاؤ گے؟ اس نے کہا: ہاں۔ تو انہوں نے انگوٹھی دے دی۔ چرواہے نے بکریاں اندر لے جا کر انگوٹھی ان کو دی۔ انہوں نے پہچان لی اور پوچھا: یہ تمہیں کس نے دی؟ کہا: ایک آدمی نے۔ پوچھا: اسے کہاں چھوڑا؟ کہا: فلاں جگہ۔ وہ خاموش رہیں یہاں تک کہ رات ہوئی تو ان کے پاس نکلیں۔ جب پہنچیں تو انہوں نے کہا: سوار ہو جائیں۔ انہوں نے کہا: نہیں بلکہ آپ آگے سوار ہوں۔ وہ سوار ہوئے اور وہ پیچھے بیٹھیں یہاں تک کہ پہنچ گئیں۔ حضور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم فرمایا کرتے تھے: یہ میری بیٹیوں میں سب سے افضل ہے — میری وجہ سے مصیبت میں مبتلا ہوئی۔ یہ بات حضرت علی بن حسین رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ تک پہنچی تو وہ عروہ کے پاس گئے اور کہا: یہ کیا حدیث ہے جو مجھے آپ کے بارے میں پہنچی ہے جس میں آپ حضرت فاطمہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کے حق میں کمی کرتے ہیں؟ عروہ نے کہا: اللہ کی قسم! میں نہیں چاہتا کہ مشرق و مغرب کی ہر چیز میری ہو اور میں فاطمہ کا کوئی حق کم کروں۔ اب سے آپ کو یقین ہو کہ میں اسے کبھی بیان نہیں کروں گا۔"
