And Abdullah bin Abi al-Aswad narrated to me, he said al-Fadl bin al-Ala' narrated to us, he said Isma'il bin Umayyah narrated to us, from Yahya bin Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Sayfi, who heard Abu Ma'bad — the freed slave of Hadrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both) — say: I heard Hadrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both) say: When the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) sent Hadrat Mu'adh (may Allah be well pleased with him) towards Yemen, he said to him: "You are going to a people who are People of the Book, so let the first thing you call them to be the Oneness of Allah the Exalted. When they recognise that, inform them that Allah the Exalted has made five prayers obligatory upon them in each day and night. When they begin to pray, inform them that Allah the Exalted has made Zakah obligatory upon their wealth, to be taken from their wealthy and returned to their poor. When they acknowledge this, take (the Zakah) from them, and beware of (taking) the finest of people's wealth."
الترجمة الأردية
اور مجھ سے عبداللہ بن ابی الاسود نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے فضل بن علاء نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے اسماعیل بن امیہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے یحییٰ بن عبداللہ بن محمد بن صیفی نے بیان کیا کہ انہوں نے ابومعبد، مولیٰ حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے سنا، وہ فرماتے تھے کہ میں نے حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما کو فرماتے سنا: جب نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے حضرت معاذ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کو یمن کی طرف بھیجا تو ان سے ارشاد فرمایا: "تم ایک ایسی قوم کے پاس جا رہے ہو جو اہل کتاب ہیں، پس سب سے پہلے انہیں اللہ تعالیٰ کی توحید کی دعوت دینا۔ جب وہ اسے جان لیں تو انہیں بتانا کہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے ان پر دن رات میں پانچ نمازیں فرض کی ہیں۔ جب وہ نماز پڑھنے لگیں تو انہیں بتانا کہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے ان کے مالوں میں زکوٰۃ فرض کی ہے جو ان کے مالداروں سے لی جائے گی اور ان کے فقیروں میں لوٹائی جائے گی۔ جب وہ اس کا اقرار کر لیں تو ان سے (زکوٰۃ) لو اور لوگوں کے عمدہ ترین مالوں سے بچو (یعنی عمدہ ترین جانور وغیرہ زکوٰۃ میں نہ لو)۔"
