Ahmad bin Salih narrated to us, he said Ibn Wahb narrated to us, he said Yunus informed me, from Ibn Shihab, who said Ata' bin Abi Rabah (upon him be mercy) informed me, from Hadrat Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be well pleased with them both) who said: The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) declared: "Whoever has eaten garlic or onion, let him stay away from us, or let him stay away from our mosque and remain in his house." And a platter — Ibn Wahb said, meaning a tray — was brought to him containing greens from vegetables. He detected a smell in them and asked about them — he was informed of the vegetables in them — so he declared: "Bring them close (to one of my companions)." They were placed before one of his companions who was with him. When he saw that the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) disliked eating them, he declared: "Eat! For indeed I converse in private with one with whom you do not converse (i.e., the angel Jibril)." Ibn Ufayr narrated from Ibn Wahb with the wording "a pot containing greens." And al-Layth and Abu Safwan did not mention the incident of the pot through Yunus, so I do not know whether this is al-Zuhri's own statement or part of the hadith.

ہم سے احمد بن صالح نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے ابن وہب نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا مجھے یونس نے خبر دی، ان سے ابن شہاب نے، انہوں نے کہا مجھے عطاء بن ابی رباح رحمۃ اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ نے خبر دی، ان سے حضرت جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما نے بیان کیا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: "جس نے لہسن یا پیاز کھایا ہو وہ ہم سے الگ رہے یا ہماری مسجد سے الگ رہے اور اپنے گھر میں بیٹھے۔" اور آپ کے سامنے ایک تھال — ابن وہب نے کہا یعنی طبق — پیش کیا گیا جس میں سبزیاں تھیں۔ آپ نے ان میں بو محسوس فرمائی تو ان کے بارے میں دریافت فرمایا — آپ کو بتایا گیا کہ ان میں کون سی سبزیاں ہیں — تو آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: "انہیں (میرے ساتھیوں میں سے کسی کے) قریب کرو۔" پس انہیں آپ کے ایک ساتھی کے سامنے رکھ دیا گیا جو آپ کے ساتھ تھے۔ جب انہوں نے دیکھا کہ آپ نے کھانا ناپسند فرمایا تو آپ نے فرمایا: "کھاؤ! بے شک میں اس ذات سے سرگوشی کرتا ہوں جس سے تم سرگوشی نہیں کرتے (یعنی فرشتے جبرائیل)۔" ابن عفیر نے ابن وہب سے "بِقِدْرٍ فِيهِ خَضِرَاتٌ" (ایک ہانڈی جس میں سبزیاں تھیں) کے الفاظ بیان کیے ہیں۔ اور لیث اور ابوصفوان نے یونس سے ہانڈی والا واقعہ بیان نہیں کیا، تو مجھے معلوم نہیں کہ یہ زہری کا اپنا قول ہے یا حدیث کا حصہ ہے۔
