Abu Hazim al-Hafiz informed us... from Ibn Juraij, who said: Salman married into the family of Abu Qurrah al-Kindi. When he entered upon her, he said: O woman, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) advised me: If Allah decrees that you marry, let the first thing the couple do together be an act of obedience. She said: You have sat in the seat of a man whose command is obeyed. He said to her: Come, let us pray and supplicate. They did so. Then he saw a house that was covered with curtains and said: What ails your house - is it feverish? Or has the Ka'bah moved to Kindah? They said: It is not feverish, and the Ka'bah has not moved to Kindah. He said: I will not enter it until every curtain is removed except a curtain over the door. This is disconnected (mursal). We have also narrated the dislike of this from Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), and it appears that this is because of the extravagance involved. And Allah knows best.
