Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us: Shu'bah told us, from Sulayman, from Mujahid, from Junadah ibn Abi Umayyah, who said: I came to a man among the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said to him: "Tell me a hadith you heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) concerning the Dajjal, and do not tell me from anyone else, even if you consider him truthful." He said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'I have warned you of the trial of the Dajjal; there was no prophet except that he warned his people or his nation of him. He is ruddy-complexioned, curly-haired, blind in his left eye. Rain will fall upon him but no tree will grow. He will be given power over one soul, and he will kill it, then bring it back to life, but he will not be given power over any other. With him will be a paradise and a fire, a river and water, and a mountain of bread. His paradise is a fire and his fire is a paradise. He will remain among you for forty mornings, coming to every watering place except four mosques: the Sacred Mosque, the Mosque of Madinah, al-Tur, and the Farthest Mosque. And if it becomes confusing or ambiguous to you, then know that Allah, Mighty and Sublime, is not blind in one eye.'"
