Isma'il told us: Ibn Awn told us, from Mujahid, who said: Junadah ibn Abi Umayyah was our commander at sea for six years. One day he addressed us and said: We entered upon a man among the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said to him: "Tell us what you heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and do not tell us what you heard from other people." He said: They pressed him hard, so he said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood among us and said: 'I warn you of the Messiah, the Dajjal; I warn you of the Messiah, the Dajjal' -- and he is a man blind in one eye." Ibn Awn said: I think he said "the left eye." "He will remain on earth for forty mornings, with him mountains of bread and rivers of water; his authority will reach every watering place; he will not come to four mosques" -- and he mentioned the Sacred Mosque, the Farthest Mosque, al-Tur, and Madinah -- "but whatever happens of that, know that Allah is not blind in one eye; Allah is not blind in one eye; Allah is not blind in one eye." Ibn Awn said: And I think in his hadith: "He will be given power over a man from among mankind, and he will kill him, then bring him back to life, but he will not be given power over anyone else."
