حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ بْنُ يُونُسَ حَدَّثَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَعْلَى عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ حُكَيْمَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهَا يَعْلَى قَالَ يَزِيدُ فِيمَا يَرْوِي يَعْلَى بْنُ مُرَّةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ الْتَقَطَ لُقَطَةً يَسِيرَةً دِرْهَمًا أَوْ حَبْلًا أَوْ شِبْهَ ذَلِكَ فَلْيُعَرِّفْهُ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ فَإِنْ كَانَ فَوْقَ ذَلِكَ فَلْيُعَرِّفْهُ سِتَّةَ أَيَّامٍ.

Yazid ibn Harun told us, Isra'il ibn Yunus informed us, Umar ibn Abdullah ibn Ya'la told me, from his grandmother Hukaymah, from her father Ya'la — Yazid said, in what Ya'la ibn Murrah narrates — he said: the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Whoever picks up a small lost item — a dirham, or a rope, or something similar — let him announce it for three days; and if it is more than that, let him announce it for six days."
