Narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him): A man among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) passed by a valley in which there was a spring of fresh water. It pleased him and he said: "What if I were to withdraw from the people and settle in this valley? I will not do so until I seek the permission of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)." He mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), who said: "Do not do that, for the standing of one of you in the cause of Allah is better than his prayer in his house for seventy years. Do you not want Allah to forgive you and admit you to Paradise? Fight in the cause of Allah. Whoever fights in the cause of Allah for the duration between two milkings of a she-camel is guaranteed Paradise."
