Hadrat Abu Musa (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated: When the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was done with Hunayn, he sent Abu 'Amir at the head of an army to Awtas. He encountered Durayd ibn al-Simma, killed Durayd, and Allah routed his companions. Abu 'Amir was struck in his knee by a man from Banu Jusham who shot him with an arrow and lodged it in his knee. I came to him and asked: "O uncle, who shot you?" He pointed and said: "That is the one who killed me, the one who shot me." Abu Musa said: So I went after him and caught up with him. When he saw me, he turned to flee. I followed him saying: "Are you not ashamed? Will you not stand and fight? Are you not ashamed? Are you not an Arab?" So he stopped, and we fought each other, exchanging blows. I struck him with the sword and killed him. Then I returned and said: "Allah has killed your assailant." He said: "Pull out this arrow." So I pulled it out and water flowed from the wound. He said: "O nephew, go to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and convey my greetings to him and tell him: Abu 'Amir asks you to seek forgiveness for him." Abu 'Amir appointed me as his successor, and he remained a short while, then he died. When I returned to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), I entered upon him in a house where he was on a bed, and the bed had left marks on the back and sides of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). I informed him of our news and the news of Abu 'Amir, and told him that he said: "Tell him to seek forgiveness for me." The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) called for water, performed ablution with it, raised his hands and stated: "O Allah, forgive 'Ubayd Abu 'Amir. O Allah, make him on the Day of Resurrection above many of Your creation." I submitted: "And for me too, O Messenger of Allah, seek forgiveness." The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "O Allah, forgive 'Abdullah ibn Qays his sin and admit him a noble entrance." Abu Burdah said: One supplication was for Abu 'Amir and one was for Abu Musa.

حضرت ابوموسیٰ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں: جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم حنین سے فارغ ہوئے تو ابو عامر کو ایک لشکر کی قیادت دے کر اوطاس بھیجا۔ انہوں نے درید بن الصمہ سے مقابلہ کیا، درید کو قتل کیا اور اللہ نے ان کے ساتھیوں کو شکست دی۔ ابو عامر کے گھٹنے میں بنو جشم کے ایک آدمی نے تیر مارا جو ان کے گھٹنے میں لگ گیا۔ میں ان کے پاس آیا اور کہا: چچا! آپ کو کس نے مارا؟ انہوں نے اشارہ کیا: وہ میرا قاتل ہے جس نے مجھے مارا۔ ابوموسیٰ نے کہا: میں نے اس کا قصد کیا اور اسے پا لیا۔ جب اس نے مجھے دیکھا تو بھاگنے لگا۔ میں نے اس کا پیچھا کیا اور کہتا رہا: کیا تجھے شرم نہیں؟ ٹھہر جا! کیا تجھے شرم نہیں؟ کیا تو عرب نہیں؟ وہ رک گیا اور ہم نے ایک دوسرے سے مقابلہ کیا۔ میں نے اسے تلوار سے مارا اور قتل کر دیا۔ پھر واپس آ کر کہا: اللہ نے آپ کے حملہ آور کو قتل کر دیا۔ انہوں نے کہا: یہ تیر نکالو۔ میں نے نکالا تو پانی بہنے لگا۔ انہوں نے کہا: بھتیجے! رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس جاؤ، میرا سلام عرض کرو اور کہو کہ ابو عامر کہتا ہے: میرے لیے مغفرت کی دعا فرمائیں۔ ابو عامر نے مجھے اپنا جانشین مقرر کیا، تھوڑی دیر بعد ان کا انتقال ہو گیا۔ جب میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس لوٹا تو آپ ایک گھر میں چارپائی پر تشریف فرما تھے اور چارپائی کے نشان آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی پشت اور پہلوؤں پر پڑے ہوئے تھے۔ میں نے آپ کو ہماری اور ابو عامر کی خبر سنائی اور کہا کہ انہوں نے کہا: ان سے کہو کہ میرے لیے مغفرت کی دعا فرمائیں۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے پانی منگوایا، وضو فرمایا، ہاتھ اٹھائے اور دعا فرمائی: «اے اللہ! عبید ابو عامر کو معاف فرما۔ اے اللہ! قیامت کے دن اسے اپنی بہت سی مخلوق سے بلند فرما۔» میں نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! میرے لیے بھی دعا فرمائیں۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے دعا فرمائی: «اے اللہ! عبداللہ بن قیس کے گناہ معاف فرما اور اسے عزت والے داخلے سے داخل فرما۔» ابو بردہ نے کہا: ایک دعا ابو عامر کے لیے تھی اور ایک ابوموسیٰ کے لیے۔
