Shufayy narrated that he entered Madinah and found a man around whom people had gathered. He asked: 'Who is this?' They said: 'Hadrat Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be well pleased with him).' He said: 'I drew near to him and sat before him while he was narrating to the people. When he fell silent and the gathering dispersed, I said: I adjure you by Allah, by right upon right, narrate to me a hadith that you heard from the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and understood.' Hadrat Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: 'I shall do so. I shall narrate to you a hadith that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) narrated to me, which I comprehended and understood.' Then Abu Hurayrah sobbed and remained still for a while, then recovered and said: 'I shall narrate to you a hadith that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) narrated to me while he and I were in this house, with no one else present besides me and him.' Then Abu Hurayrah sobbed again, remained still, then recovered and wiped his face, and said: 'I shall do so. I shall narrate to you a hadith that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) narrated to me while he and I were in this house, with no one else present besides me and him.' Then Abu Hurayrah sobbed once more, fell forward on his face, and I supported him for a long while. Then he recovered and said: 'The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) narrated to me that when the Day of Resurrection comes, Allah, Exalted and Majestic, shall descend to the servants to judge between them, with every nation kneeling. The first to be called forth will be a man who memorized the Quran, a man who was killed in the path of Allah, and a man of great wealth. Allah shall say to the reciter: Did I not teach you what I revealed to My Messenger? He will say: Indeed, O my Lord. He will ask: What did you do with what you learned? He will say: I used to stand in prayer with it during the hours of night and day. Allah will say to him: You have lied, and the angels will say: You have lied. Allah, Exalted and Majestic, will say: Rather, you wanted it to be said that so-and-so is a reciter, and it was said. Then the wealthy man will be brought forth, and He will say: Did I not give you abundance until you had no need of anyone? He will say: Indeed. He will ask: What did you do with what I gave you? He will say: I used to maintain family ties and give charity. Allah will say: You have lied, and the angels will say: You have lied. Allah will say: Rather, you wanted it to be said that so-and-so is generous, and it was said. Then the man who was killed in the path of Allah will be brought forth, and it will be said to him: For what were you killed? He will say: I was commanded to fight in Your path, so I fought until I was killed. Allah will say: You have lied, and the angels will say to him: You have lied. Allah will say: Rather, you wanted it to be said that so-and-so is brave, and it was said.' Then the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) struck my knee and said: 'O Abu Hurayrah, those three are the first of Allah's creation with whom the Fire will be kindled on the Day of Resurrection.'

شُفَی نے بیان کیا کہ وہ مدینہ منورہ میں داخل ہوئے تو ایک شخص کو دیکھا جس کے گرد لوگ جمع تھے۔ انہوں نے پوچھا: یہ کون ہیں؟ لوگوں نے کہا: حضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ۔ انہوں نے کہا: میں ان کے قریب ہوا اور ان کے سامنے بیٹھ گیا جبکہ وہ لوگوں سے حدیث بیان کر رہے تھے۔ جب وہ خاموش ہوئے اور مجلس خلوت ہوئی تو میں نے عرض کیا: میں آپ کو اللہ کی قسم دیتا ہوں، حق در حق، مجھے ایک حدیث سنائیں جو آپ نے سرکارِ دو عالم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے سنی اور سمجھی ہو۔ حضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا: میں ایسا کروں گا۔ میں تمہیں ایک حدیث سناؤں گا جو مجھے سرکارِ دو عالم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے سنائی، جسے میں نے یاد کیا اور سمجھا۔ پھر حضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ پر رقت طاری ہوئی اور تھوڑی دیر خاموش رہے، پھر ہوش میں آئے اور فرمایا: میں تمہیں ایک حدیث سناؤں گا جو سرکارِ دو عالم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے مجھے سنائی جبکہ میں اور وہ اس گھر میں تھے اور میرے اور ان کے سوا کوئی نہ تھا۔ پھر ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ پر دوبارہ رقت طاری ہوئی، پھر ہوش میں آئے اور اپنا چہرہ پونچھا اور فرمایا: میں ایسا کروں گا۔ میں تمہیں ایک ایسی حدیث سناؤں گا جو سرکارِ دو عالم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے مجھے سنائی جبکہ میں اور وہ اس گھر میں تھے اور میرے اور ان کے سوا کوئی نہ تھا۔ پھر ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ پر تیسری بار رقت طاری ہوئی، پھر وہ اپنے چہرے پر گر پڑے اور میں نے انہیں کافی دیر سہارا دیا۔ پھر ہوش میں آئے اور فرمایا: سرکارِ دو عالم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے مجھے ارشاد فرمایا کہ جب قیامت کا دن آئے گا تو اللہ عزوجل بندوں کے درمیان فیصلہ کرنے کے لیے نازل ہوگا اور ہر اُمت گھٹنوں کے بل ہوگی۔ سب سے پہلے جسے بلایا جائے گا وہ ایک شخص ہوگا جس نے قرآن جمع کیا، ایک شخص جو اللہ کی راہ میں قتل ہوا، اور ایک بہت مالدار شخص۔ اللہ تعالیٰ قاری سے فرمائے گا: کیا میں نے تجھے وہ نہیں سکھایا جو میں نے اپنے رسول پر نازل کیا؟ وہ عرض کرے گا: جی ہاں، اے میرے رب۔ فرمائے گا: تو نے اپنے علم پر کیا عمل کیا؟ وہ عرض کرے گا: میں رات اور دن کی ساعتوں میں اس کے ساتھ قیام کرتا تھا۔ اللہ تعالیٰ اسے فرمائے گا: تو نے جھوٹ بولا، اور فرشتے کہیں گے: تو نے جھوٹ بولا۔ اللہ عزوجل فرمائے گا: بلکہ تو چاہتا تھا کہ کہا جائے فلاں قاری ہے، سو کہا گیا۔ پھر مالدار شخص لایا جائے گا، اللہ فرمائے گا: کیا میں نے تجھے اتنی وسعت نہیں دی کہ تو کسی کا محتاج نہ رہا؟ وہ عرض کرے گا: جی ہاں۔ فرمائے گا: تو نے جو میں نے تجھے دیا اس میں کیا کیا؟ وہ عرض کرے گا: میں صلہ رحمی کرتا تھا اور صدقہ دیتا تھا۔ اللہ فرمائے گا: تو نے جھوٹ بولا، اور فرشتے کہیں گے: تو نے جھوٹ بولا۔ اللہ فرمائے گا: بلکہ تو چاہتا تھا کہ کہا جائے فلاں سخی ہے، سو یہ کہا گیا۔ پھر وہ شخص لایا جائے گا جو اللہ کی راہ میں قتل ہوا، اس سے کہا جائے گا: تو کس لیے قتل ہوا؟ وہ عرض کرے گا: مجھے تیری راہ میں جہاد کا حکم دیا گیا، سو میں نے لڑائی کی یہاں تک کہ قتل ہوگیا۔ اللہ فرمائے گا: تو نے جھوٹ بولا، اور فرشتے اس سے کہیں گے: تو نے جھوٹ بولا۔ اللہ فرمائے گا: بلکہ تو چاہتا تھا کہ کہا جائے فلاں بہادر ہے، سو یہ کہا گیا۔ پھر سرکارِ دو عالم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے میرے گھٹنے پر ہاتھ مارا اور ارشاد فرمایا: اے ابو ہریرہ! یہ تینوں اللہ کی مخلوق میں سے پہلے ہیں جن سے قیامت کے دن آگ بھڑکائی جائے گی۔
