انگریزی ترجمہ
It is narrated from the Mother of the Believers, Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her), that a woman's husband died and her eyes began to hurt, so people came and asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) for permission for her to apply kohl. He (peace be upon him) said, "She may not apply kohl, whereas formerly (a widow) had to complete her waiting period in the worst clothing and the worst dwelling, and when a full year was completed (she would come out of the waiting period in such a way that) a dog would pass by and she would throw dung at it. Kohl is by no means permissible until four months and ten days have passed."
اردو ترجمہ
ام المؤمنین ام سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے روایت ہے کہایک عورت کا خاوند فوت ہو گیا اور اس کی آنکھیں دکھنے لگیں تو لوگوں نے آ کر رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے سرمہ لگانے کی اجازت مانگی۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا:”وہ سرمہ نہیں لگا سکتی حالانکہ پہلے برے لباس اور برے مکان میں عدت پوری کرنا پڑتی تھی اور جب ایک سال تمام ہوتا (تو عدت سے اس طرح باہر ہوتی تھی کہ) کتا گزرتا اور وہ اس کو مینگنی مارتی تھی، ہرگز سرمہ جائز نہیں جب تک چار ماہ دس دن نہ گزر جائیں۔“[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 1883]
