Hadrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both) narrated that when the delegation of Abd al-Qais came to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), he asked: 'Who is this delegation?' They said: 'From the tribe of Rabi'ah.' He declared: 'Welcome to this delegation and people — you have come without disgrace and without regret.' They submitted: 'O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! Between us and you lie the disbelievers of Mudar. Command us with something by which we may enter Paradise, and that we may inform those we left behind.' They also asked about drinks. He forbade them from four things and commanded them four. He commanded them with faith in Allah and asked: 'Do you know what faith in Allah is?' They said: 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He declared: 'To testify that there is no deity except Allah alone with no partner, and that Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) is the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), to establish prayer, to give Zakat — and I believe fasting in Ramadan was also mentioned — and to give one-fifth of the war spoils.' He forbade them from (using) Ad-Dubba (dry gourd vessels), Al-Hantam (green jars), Al-Muzaffat (pitch-coated containers), and An-Naqir (hollowed-out palm-wood vessels) — and sometimes he said Al-Muqayyar. He declared: 'Remember these and convey them to those you left behind.'
اردو ترجمہ
حضرت ابنِ عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ قبیلۂ عبدالقیس کا وفد جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا تو آپ نے پوچھا: یہ وفد کون ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا: ربیعہ (قبیلے) کے ہیں۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: مبارک ہو اس وفد اور قوم کو، بغیر رسوائی اور بغیر پشیمانی کے (آئے ہو)۔ انہوں نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! ہمارے اور آپ کے درمیان مضر کے کفار ہیں، لہٰذا ہمیں ایسا حکم دیجیے جس پر عمل کر کے ہم جنت میں داخل ہو جائیں اور اپنے پیچھے رہ جانے والوں کو بھی بتا سکیں۔ پھر انہوں نے مشروبات کے بارے میں بھی پوچھا۔ آپ نے انہیں چار چیزوں سے منع فرمایا اور چار چیزوں کا حکم دیا۔ ایمان باللہ کا حکم دیا اور فرمایا: جانتے ہو ایمان باللہ کیا ہے؟ انہوں نے عرض کیا: اللہ اور اس کے رسول بہتر جانتے ہیں۔ فرمایا: یہ گواہی دینا کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں، وہ اکیلا ہے اس کا کوئی شریک نہیں، اور محمد صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم اللہ کے رسول ہیں، نماز قائم کرنا، زکوٰۃ ادا کرنا — اور میرا خیال ہے اس میں رمضان کے روزے بھی ہیں — اور غنیمت سے خمس (پانچواں حصہ) دینا۔ اور آپ نے انہیں دبّاء (کدو کے خشک ظروف)، حنتم (سبز مٹکے)، مزفت (تارکول لگے برتن) اور نقیر (کھجور کی لکڑی کے کھودے ہوئے برتن) سے منع فرمایا — اور بعض اوقات مقیر فرمایا — اور ارشاد فرمایا: انہیں یاد رکھو اور اپنے پیچھے رہ جانے والوں تک پہنچا دو۔
