Abu al-Nu'man narrated to us, Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Ghaylan ibn Jarir, from Abu Burdah, from his father (Hadrat Abu Musa al-Ash'ari, may Allah be well pleased with him), who said: I came to the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) with a group of Ash'aris to ask for mounts. He stated: "By Allah, I will not give you mounts, and I have nothing to mount you on." Then we stayed as long as Allah willed, then three white-humped camels were brought to him and he mounted us on them. When we departed, we said — or some of us said: By Allah, we will not be blessed! We came to the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) asking for mounts, and he swore he would not give us mounts, then he gave us mounts. Let us go back to the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and remind him. So we came to him and he stated: "It was not I who gave you mounts, rather it was Allah who gave you mounts. And by Allah, if Allah wills, I shall never take an oath and then see something better than it, except that I expiate for my oath and do what is better." Or he said: "Do what is better and expiate for my oath."
اردو ترجمہ
ہم سے ابوالنعمان نے بیان کیا، ہم سے حماد بن زید نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے غیلان بن جریر سے، انہوں نے ابو بردہ سے، انہوں نے اپنے والد (حضرت ابو موسیٰ اشعری رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ) سے روایت کیا، انہوں نے فرمایا: میں اشعری لوگوں کی ایک جماعت کے ساتھ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی خدمت میں سواری مانگنے آیا۔ آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: "اللہ کی قسم! میں تمہیں سواری نہیں دوں گا اور میرے پاس تمہیں سوار کرنے کے لیے کچھ نہیں ہے۔" پھر ہم جتنی دیر اللہ نے چاہی رکے رہے، پھر آپ کے پاس تین سفید کوہان والے اونٹ لائے گئے اور آپ نے ہمیں ان پر سوار فرمایا۔ جب ہم چلے تو ہم نے کہا یا ہم میں سے بعض نے کہا: اللہ کی قسم! ہمیں برکت نہیں ملے گی، ہم نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس سواری مانگنے آئے تو آپ نے قسم کھائی کہ ہمیں سواری نہیں دیں گے پھر سواری دے دی۔ آؤ واپس نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس چلیں اور آپ کو یاد دلائیں۔ تو ہم آپ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے تو آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: "میں نے تمہیں سواری نہیں دی بلکہ اللہ نے تمہیں سواری دی ہے۔ اور اللہ کی قسم! ان شاء اللہ میں جب بھی کوئی قسم کھاؤں اور اس کے سوا کوئی بہتر بات دیکھوں تو اپنی قسم کا کفارہ دے دوں اور وہ کروں جو بہتر ہو۔" یا فرمایا: "وہ کروں جو بہتر ہو اور اپنی قسم کا کفارہ دے دوں۔"
