أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ الْمُقْرِئُ أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ثنا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ خَرَجَ مُسْتَعْجِلًا يَجُرُّ رِدَاءَهُ حَتَّى أَتَى الْمَسْجِدَ وَقَدِ انْكَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَصَلَّى حَتَّى انْجَلَتْ وَقَالَ إِنَّ أَهْلَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ يَقُولُونَ إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ لَا يَنْخَسِفَانِ إِلَّا لِمَوْتِ عَظِيمٍ مِنْ عُظَمَاءِ الْأَرْضِ وَإِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ لَا يَنْخَسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ أَحَدٍ وَلَكِنَّهُمَا خَلْقَانِ مِنْ خَلْقِ اللهِ ﷻ وَيُحْدِثُ اللهُ فِي خَلْقِهِ مَا يَشَاءُ فَأَيُّهُمَا انْخَسَفَ فَصَلُّوا حَتَّى يَنْجَلِيَ أَوْ يُحْدِثَ اللهُ ﷻ أَمْرًا هَذَا أَشْبَهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ مَحْفُوظًا وَقَدْ قِيلَ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ قَبِيصَةَ الْهِلَالِيِّ
انگریزی ترجمہ
Abu al-Hasan the reciter narrated to us... from al-Hasan, from al-Nu'man ibn Bashir, that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) went out in haste dragging his garment until he reached the mosque when the sun had eclipsed. He prayed until it cleared and said: 'The people of the pre-Islamic era used to say that the sun and moon only eclipse for the death of a great person among the great ones of the earth. The sun and moon do not eclipse for the death of anyone, but they are two creations from the creation of Allah the Almighty, and Allah brings about in His creation whatever He wills. Whichever of them eclipses, pray until it clears or until Allah brings about a (new) matter.' This is most likely the preserved (authentic) version. It has also been reported from Abu Qilabah from Qabisah al-Hilali.
