Ibn Umar narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) recited a prostration verse in the year of the Conquest, and all the people prostrated - among them were riders, and some prostrated on the ground, until a rider would prostrate on his hand. And it is mentioned from Ali and Ibn al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them) that they prostrated while riding by gesturing. And from Ibn Umar, when asked about prostrating on an animal, he said: Prostrate and gesture. Al-Zuhri said: Do not prostrate unless you are in a state of purity. If you prostrate while in a settled place, face the qiblah, and if you are riding, it does not matter which direction you face.
