حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمُسْتَبَّانِ مَا قَالَا فَعَلَى الْبَادِئِ مَا لَمْ يَعْتَدِ الْمَظْلُومُ.

Isma'il told us: Rawh ibn al-Qasim told us, from al-'Ala' ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Ya'qub, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "In an exchange of insults between two people, the blame falls on the one who started it, so long as the wronged party does not exceed the bounds."
