Yazid told us: Muhammad informed us, from Yahya ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Hatib, who said: Abdullah ibn Umar said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'The month is twenty-nine days,' and he clapped his hands twice, then clapped a third time and folded down his thumb. Aishah said: 'May Allah forgive Abu Abd al-Rahman; he was mistaken. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, only kept away from his wives for a month, then he came down on the twenty-ninth day, so they said: O Messenger of Allah, you came down on the twenty-ninth day. He said: The month may be twenty-nine days.'
