حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ سَجَدَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سُورَةِ النَّجْمِ فَمَا بَقِيَ أَحَدٌ مِنْ الْقَوْمِ إِلَّا سَجَدَ إِلَّا شَيْخٌ أَخَذَ كَفًّا مِنْ حَصًى فَرَفَعَهُ إِلَى جَبْهَتِهِ وَقَالَ يَكْفِينِي هَذَا قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ قُتِلَ كَافِرًا.

Yazid told us: Shu'bah informed us, from Abu Ishaq, from al-Aswad, from 'Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, prostrated during Surah al-Najm, and none of the people remained without prostrating, except an old man who took a handful of pebbles and raised it to his forehead and said, 'This is enough for me.' 'Abdullah said: I later saw him killed as a disbeliever.
