Hajjaj told us, Layth b. Sa'd al-Misri told us, he said Yazid b. Abi Habib told me, from Abu 'Imran Aslam, who said: I performed Hajj with my patrons, and I went in to Umm Salamah, wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and said, "Shall I perform 'Umrah before Hajj?" She said, "If you wish, perform 'Umrah before Hajj; and if you wish, after Hajj." He said: I said, "They say that one who has not yet performed Hajj should not perform 'Umrah before Hajj." He said: So I asked the Mothers of the Believers, and they said the same as she had said. I returned to her and told her what they had said. He said: She said, "Yes, and I will cure you [of your doubt] - I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say, 'Enter ihram, O family of Muhammad, for 'Umrah within Hajj.'"
