Ya'qub narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq, who said: al-Zuhri narrated to me, from Urwa, from Aisha, who said: Sahla bint Suhayl came to the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, and said to him, "O Messenger of God, Salim was with us, as you know, and we regarded him as a son; he would enter upon me however he wished, and we felt no shyness before him. But when God revealed concerning him and those like him what He revealed, I noticed a change in the face of Abu Hudhayfa whenever he saw him enter upon me." He said, "Then nurse him ten times, and let him then enter upon you however he wishes, for he is indeed your son." So Aisha regarded it as a general ruling applicable to all Muslims, while the rest of the wives of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, other than her, regarded it as a special dispensation for Salim, the freedman of Abu Hudhayfa, whom Sahla had mentioned in her account.
