حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أُمِّ بَكْرٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ بَاعَ أَرْضًا لَهُ مِنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ بِأَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفَ دِينَارٍ فَقَسَمَهُ فِي فُقَرَاءِ بَنِي زُهْرَةَ وَفِي ذِي الْحَاجَةِ مِنْ النَّاسِ وَفِي أُمَّهَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ قَالَ الْمِسْوَرُ فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ بِنَصِيبِهَا مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَتْ مَنْ أَرْسَلَ بِهَذَا قُلْتُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا يَحِنُّ عَلَيْكُمْ بَعْدِي إِلَّا الصَّابِرُونَ سَقَى اللَّهُ ابْنَ عَوْفٍ مِنْ سَلْسَبِيلِ الْجَنَّةِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَتْنَا أُمُّ بَكْرٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ بَاعَ أَرْضًا لَهُ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ قَالَتْ أَمَا إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لَا يَحْنَا عَلَيْكُمْ بَعْدِي إِلَّا الصَّابِرُونَ.

Abd al-Malik ibn Amr narrated to us: Abdullah - that is, Ibn Ja'far - narrated to us, from Umm Bakr, that Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf sold a piece of land of his to Uthman ibn Affan for forty thousand dinars, and he distributed it among the poor of Banu Zuhrah, and among those in need among the people, and among the Mothers of the Believers. Al-Miswar said: "I entered upon A'ishah with her share of that, and she said: 'Who sent this?' I said: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf.' She said: 'The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "None will show tenderness toward you after me except the patient ones." May Allah give Ibn Awf to drink from the Salsabil spring of Paradise.'" Abu Sa'id narrated to us: Abdullah ibn Ja'far narrated to us: Umm Bakr narrated to us that Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf sold a piece of land of his - and he mentioned the hadith - except that he said she said: "Indeed I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'None will show tenderness toward you after me except the patient ones.'"
