Aswad ibn Amir narrated to us, he said: Sharik informed us, from Simak, from Abdullah ibn Amirah, from Durrah bint Abi Lahab, who said: I was with Aishah when the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, came in and said, "Bring me water for ablution." So I asked for it, and I and Aishah both rushed for the jug — she said, I beat her to it and took it myself — so he performed ablution, then raised his glance, or his eye, or his sight, toward me and said, "You are of me and I am of you." She said: Then a man was brought before him, and he said, "It was not I who did this, but it was said to me to say it." She said: He had been asked on the pulpit, "Who are the best of people?" and he said, "The most learned of them in the religion of Allah, Mighty and Sublime, and the most devoted of them to keeping ties of kinship." And Sharik mentioned in it two other things which I did not memorize.
