حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ كُلُّ غُلَامٍ رَهِينٌ بِعَقِيقَتِهِ تُذْبَحُ عَنْهُ يَوْمَ السَّابِعِ وَيُحْلَقُ رَأْسُهُ وَيُسَمَّى.

Ishaq told us, Sa'id told us, from Qatadah, from al-Hasan, from Samurah, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Every boy is held in pledge for his 'aqiqah; it is slaughtered for him on the seventh day, his head is shaved, and he is named.
