حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي قَسَامَةُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ قَالَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ قَسَامَةَ بْنِ زُهَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ خَلَقَ آدَمَ مِنْ قَبْضَةٍ قَبَضَهَا مِنْ جَمِيعِ الْأَرْضِ فَجَاءَ بَنُو آدَمَ عَلَى قَدْرِ الْأَرْضِ جَاءَ مِنْهُمْ الْأَبْيَضُ وَالْأَحْمَرُ وَالْأَسْوَدُ وَبَيْنَ ذَلِكَ وَالْخَبِيثُ وَالطَّيِّبُ وَالسَّهْلُ وَالْحَزْنُ وَبَيْنَ ذَلِكَ حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ عَنْ قَسَامَةَ بْنِ زُهَيْرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْأَشْعَرِيَّ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ.

Yahya b. Sa'id and Muhammad b. Ja'far told us, they said: Awf told us, he said: Qasama b. Zuhayr told me - Ibn Ja'far said: from Qasama b. Zuhayr - from Abu Musa, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "Allah, Mighty and Majestic, created Adam from a handful He took from the whole earth. So the children of Adam came forth according to the makeup of the earth: among them the white, the red, and the black, and in between; and the corrupt and the good, and the easy-natured and the harsh, and in between." Rawh told us: Awf told us, from Qasama b. Zuhayr, who said: I heard al-Ash'ari mention the like of it.
