Yazid ibn Harun told us: Muhammad ibn 'Amr informed us, from his father, from his grandfather 'Alqamah, from 'A'ishah, who said: We arrived back from Hajj or 'Umrah, and we were met at Dhu'l-Hulayfah - and there were young men from the Ansar who had come to meet their families. They met Usayd ibn Hudayr and gave him the news of his wife's death. He covered his face and began to weep. She said: I said to him, "May Allah forgive you - you are a Companion of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and you have precedence and seniority [in Islam] - what makes you weep over a woman?" He uncovered his head and said, "You have spoken truly. By my life, my right is that I should not weep over anyone after Sa'd ibn Mu'adh, for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him what he said." She said: I said to him, "What did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say to him?" He said, "The Throne shook at the death of Sa'd ibn Mu'adh." She said: And he was walking between me and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
