حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ صُهَيْبٍ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُحَرِّكُ شَفَتَيْهِ أَيَّامَ حُنَيْنٍ بِشَيْءٍ لَمْ يَكُنْ يَفْعَلُهُ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ قَالَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ نَبِيًّا كَانَ فِيمَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ أَعْجَبَتْهُ أُمَّتُهُ فَقَالَ لَنْ يَرُومَ هَؤُلَاءِ شَيْءٌ فَأَوْحَى اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ أَنْ خَيِّرْهُمْ بَيْنَ إِحْدَى ثَلَاثٍ إِمَّا أَنْ أُسَلِّطَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَدُوًّا مِنْ غَيْرِهِمْ فَيَسْتَبِيحَهُمْ أَوْ الْجُوعَ أَوْ الْمَوْتَ قَالَ فَقَالُوا أَمَّا الْقَتْلُ أَوْ الْجُوعُ فَلَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِ وَلَكِنْ الْمَوْتُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَمَاتَ فِي ثَلَاثٍ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا قَالَ فَقَالَ فَأَنَا أَقُولُ الْآنَ اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أُحَاوِلُ وَبِكَ أَصُولُ وَبِكَ أُقَاتِلُ.
انگریزی ترجمہ
Waki' told us, from Hammad bin Salamah, from Thabit, from Abdul Rahman bin Abi Layla, from Suhayb, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to move his lips during the days of Hunayn with something he had not done before that. He said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There was a prophet among those before you who was pleased with his nation, and he said: These people will not be overcome by anything. So Allah revealed to him that he should give them a choice between one of three things: either I let an enemy from other than themselves overpower them so that he destroys them utterly, or famine, or death." He said: They said: "As for killing or famine, we have no strength for it, but let it be death." He said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "So seventy thousand died within three days." He said: "So now I say: O Allah, by You I strive, by You I attack, and by You I fight."
