Waki' told us: Hasan ibn Salih told us, from al-Suddi, from Adi ibn Thabit, from al-Bara', who said: I met my maternal uncle carrying the banner, and I said, "Where are you headed?" He said, "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent me to a man who married his father's wife after him, to strike his neck"—or "to kill him and take his wealth."
