Waki' told us: Sufyan told us, from Abu Ishaq, from al-Bara' ibn Azib, [regarding] "Not equal are those believers who sit at home, other than those who have a disability": He said: When it was revealed, Amr ibn Umm Maktum came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him—and he was blind—and said, "O Messenger of Allah, what do you command me, for I am blind?" So Allah, Mighty and Majestic, revealed, "other than those who have a disability." Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Bring me the shoulder-blade and the inkwell"—or "the tablet and the inkwell."
