Hashim ibn al-Qasim narrated to us: Shayban narrated to us, from Asim, from Khaythamah and al-Sha'bi, from al-Nu'man ibn Bashir, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The lawful is clear and the unlawful is clear, and between them are ambiguous matters. Whoever avoids the ambiguous matters keeps himself safest for his religion and honor; and the prohibitions of Allah are a protected pasture, so whoever grazes around the pasture is liable to fall into it.
