حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ الْبَجَلِيُّ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا أَنَا جَالِسٌ فِي مَسْجِدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُسْنِدِي ظُهُورِنَا إِلَى قِبْلَةِ مَسْجِدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَبْعَةُ رَهْطٍ أَرْبَعَةٌ مَوَالِينَا وَثَلَاثَةٌ مِنْ عَرَبِنَا إِذْ خَرَجَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةَ الظُّهْرِ حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَيْنَا فَقَالَ مَا يُجْلِسُكُمْ هَاهُنَا قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ نَنْتَظِرُ الصَّلَاةَ قَالَ فَأَرَمَّ قَلِيلًا ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ أَتَدْرُونَ مَا يَقُولُ رَبُّكُمْ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قُلْنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمْ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَقُولُ مَنْ صَلَّى الصَّلَاةَ لِوَقْتِهَا وَحَافَظَ عَلَيْهَا وَلَمْ يُضَيِّعْهَا اسْتِخْفَافًا بِحَقِّهَا فَلَهُ عَلَيَّ عَهْدٌ أَنْ أُدْخِلَهُ الْجَنَّةَ وَمَنْ لَمْ يُصَلِّ لِوَقْتِهَا وَلَمْ يُحَافِظْ عَلَيْهَا وَضَيَّعَهَا اسْتِخْفَافًا بِحَقِّهَا فَلَا عَهْدَ لَهُ إِنْ شِئْتُ عَذَّبْتُهُ وَإِنْ شِئْتُ غَفَرْتُ لَهُ.

Hashim told us, Isa ibn al-Musayyab al-Bajali told us from al-Sha'bi from Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah who said: While I was sitting in the mosque of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, with our backs resting against the qiblah of the mosque of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him - seven of us, four of our freed clients and three of our Arabs - the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came out to us for the noon prayer until he reached us and said, "What keeps you sitting here?" We said, "O Messenger of Allah, we are waiting for the prayer." He said, So he remained silent for a while, then raised his head and said, "Do you know what your Lord, Mighty and Majestic, says?" We said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "Your Lord, Mighty and Majestic, says: whoever prays the prayer at its proper time, maintains it, and does not neglect it out of disregard for its due, has a pledge from Me that I will admit him to Paradise. And whoever does not pray it at its proper time, does not maintain it, and neglects it out of disregard for its due, has no pledge; if I wish I will punish him, and if I wish I will forgive him."
