حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ غَيْلَانَ حَدَّثَنَا رِشْدِينُ حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ وَالْحَسَنُ بْنُ ثَوْبَانَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ قَالَ سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَتَصَدَّقَ بِحُلِيٍّ كَانَ لِأُمِّهِ عَنْ أُمِّهِ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَتْكَ بِذَلِكَ قَالَ لَا قَالَ فَلَا.

Yahya ibn Ghaylan told us, Rishdin told us, Amr ibn al-Harith and al-Hasan ibn Thawban told me, from Yazid ibn Abi Habib, from Abu al-Khayr, from Uqbah ibn Amir, who said: A man asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, for permission to give in charity, on behalf of his mother after her death, jewelry that had belonged to her. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him: Did she command you to do that? He said: No. He said: Then no.
