Sa'id ibn 'Amir narrated to us, he said: Shu'bah narrated to us, he said: Sa'id ibn Masruq narrated to us, from 'Abayah ibn Rifa'ah ibn Rafi' ibn Khadij, from his grandfather Rafi' ibn Khadij, who said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, we will meet the enemy tomorrow and we have no knives." He said, "Whatever causes blood to flow, and the name of Allah is mentioned over it, eat it - except tooth and claw, and I will tell you why: as for the tooth, it is a bone, and as for the claw, it is the knife of the Abyssinians." He said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, obtained some plunder, and a camel bolted from it. They ran after it but could not catch it, so a man shot it with an arrow and it was stopped. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "These camels" - or he said "livestock" - "have wild fits like the wild fits of wild animals, so whatever overcomes you of them, do to it likewise."
