Yazid informed us: Humayd and al-Ansari told us — al-Ansari said: Humayd told us, the meaning being the same — from Anas ibn Malik, who said, "We used to be delighted when a man from the desert people would come and ask questions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him." He said: So a bedouin came and said, "O Messenger of Allah, when is the Hour?" The prayer was then called, so the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, got up and prayed. When he finished the prayer, he said, "Where is the one who asked about the Hour?" The man stood up and said, "Here I am." He said, "What have you prepared for it?" He said, "I have not prepared much in the way of prayer or fasting for it, except that I love Allah and His Messenger." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "A man will be with whomever he loves." He said: I never saw the Muslims rejoice at anything, after Islam, as they rejoiced at that. — And al-Ansari said in his version: "much in the way of deeds, prayer, or fasting."
